Rising 7,788 meters above sea level, it dominates the Hunza Valley with its enormous ice walls and breathtaking ridges. The expedition offers climbers a chance to scale one of the world’s highest mountains, requiring endurance, strong technical climbing skills, and high-altitude experience. The journey begins in Islamabad and passes through Hunza before reaching the mountain’s base.

Itinerary
Arrive at Islamabad International Airport, meet the expedition team, and transfer to the hotel. A detailed briefing about the climb and logistics is given.
Travel along the legendary Karakoram Highway through deep valleys and rugged gorges of the Indus River. Overnight stay in Chilas.
Continue the drive into Hunza, surrounded by towering peaks and traditional villages. Spend the evening preparing for the trek and enjoying local hospitality.
Gear checks, food supplies, and administrative formalities. Short acclimatization hikes in the surrounding hills.
Travel to Minapin, the gateway to Rakaposhi Base Camp. This traditional settlement offers views of Rakaposhi’s immense ice wall.
Begin the trek through green meadows, steep ridges, and forests. The trail gradually ascends to Hapakun camp.
A steady climb brings you to Tagaphari, the base camp of Rakaposhi. The campsite overlooks the Minapin Glacier and the towering ice wall of Rakaposhi.
Spend the day acclimatizing and preparing loads for higher camps. Short hikes around the glacier for better adaptation.
Over three weeks are reserved for climbing Rakaposhi. Climbers establish multiple camps:
- Camp I (~4,800m): Set on glacier terrain after a steep climb.
- Camp II (~5,500m): Located above ice ridges, offering shelter for acclimatization.
- Camp III (~6,200m): Positioned for summit push, requiring technical snow and ice climbing.
- Summit attempts are made once weather and acclimatization align. The summit offers views of Diran, Ultar Sar, Spantik, and across the Karakoram.
After summit attempts, climbers descend back to base camp, collect gear, and celebrate the achievement.
Retrace your steps down the lush meadows and ridges to Minapin. Overnight stay in a traditional Hunza home or camp.
Return to Hunza Valley for rest and recovery. Enjoy local cuisine and relax after weeks in the mountains.
Descend along the Karakoram Highway, following the Indus River back toward Chilas.
Complete the journey back to the capital. Overnight stay at hotel.
Official debriefing with the Alpine Club of Pakistan. Free time for shopping or sightseeing.
Reserved for delays due to weather or road conditions.
Transfer to Islamabad International Airport for your return flight.
