The K2 Expedition is the ultimate mountaineering challenge, reserved for the most skilled climbers.
Known as the “Savage Mountain,” K2 (8,611 m) is the second-highest peak in the world, located in
Pakistan’s Karakoram Range. This 52-day expedition tests endurance, teamwork, and technical ability on
steep rock, ice, and mixed terrain. Climbers follow the classic Abruzzi Spur route, establishing multiple
camps before making a summit attempt. With breathtaking views of Baltoro Glacier, Broad Peak, and
Gasherbrum peaks, K2 is both a dream and a lifetime achievement for any alpinist.

Itinerary

Arrive at Islamabad International Airport where our representative greets you and transfers you to thehotel. After a short rest, the group meets for introductions, gear checks, and a detailed expeditionbriefing. In the evening, you can explore Islamabad’s local markets and enjoy a welcome dinner.

Take a scenic flight to Skardu, offering breathtaking aerial views of Nanga Parbat and the KarakoramRange. In case of bad weather, the alternative is a drive along the legendary Karakoram Highway, passingthrough mountain villages and river valleys. Overnight in Skardu.

Spend the day acclimatizing in Skardu, a historic town along the Indus River. Finalize logistics, purchasesupplies, and enjoy sightseeing at Kharpocho Fort or Satpara Lake. This is the last chance to preparebefore heading into remote mountain terrain.

A thrilling jeep ride through Shigar Valley leads to Askole, the last permanent settlement before theBaltoro Glacier. The bumpy ride passes through narrow gorges, suspension bridges, and rocky tracks.Overnight camp at Askole with views of surrounding peaks.

The first trekking day begins with a scenic walk along the Braldu River. The trail crosses wooden bridgesand sandy stretches with dramatic views of Bakhor Das Peak. The terrain is rough but manageable as youslowly reach Jhola campsite under starry skies.

Trek continues towards Paiju, one of the most beautiful campsites on the Baltoro trek. The routeprovides the first stunning views of the Trango Towers and Cathedral Peaks. Camp at Paiju beside shadytrees, where porters prepare a traditional Balti meal.

This is a rest and acclimatization day to prepare for glacier trekking ahead. Explore the surroundings,enjoy panoramic mountain views, and allow porters to bake fresh bread while organizing supplies for theBaltoro section.

The trail enters the Baltoro Glacier, with its vast icy expanse stretching endlessly. Trekking involveswalking on rocky moraine and ice ridges. From camp at Khoburtse, you’ll witness magnificent views ofTrango Towers glowing in the evening light

A steady climb leads to Urdukas, located on grassy terraces above Baltoro Glacier. The views are spectacular, dominated by Trango Towers and Uli Biaho peaks. This campsite is among the most scenic on the entire trek.

Today the trek continues entirely on glacier terrain with a mix of ice, rock, and rubble. The scenery isdominated by Gasherbrum IV and the icy pinnacles around Baltoro. Goro II is a cold but majesticcampsite surrounded by high granite walls.

Arrive at Concordia, the "throne room of the mountain gods." From here, K2, Broad Peak, GasherbrumIV, and other giants dominate the skyline. This is considered one of the most beautiful campsites in theworld and a highlight of the trek.

The final stretch of trekking takes you along the upper Baltoro Glacier to K2 Base Camp. Set up campwith a stunning view of K2’s mighty pyramid. Base Camp becomes home for the next month as climbingpreparations begin.

Over the next 30 days, climbers focus on acclimatization and route fixing. Camp I (6,000 m) is reached viasteep slopes of mixed rock and ice. Camp II (6,700 m) is well protected and serves as an advancedstaging area. Camp III (7,300 m) lies on steep ice, exposed to weather. Camp IV (7,900 m) is the highcamp before summit push. The summit attempt on K2 (8,611 m) involves fixed ropes, technical climbing,and supplemental oxygen for most climbers. Success depends on weather windows and team readiness.

After the summit attempt, the team returns to Base Camp for rest and recovery. Celebrate the climb,whether successful or not, and start organizing equipment for return

The return trek begins with a long descent along Baltoro Glacier back to Goro II. Though the trail isfamiliar, it offers new perspectives of the peaks.

Continue descending to Urdukas. Enjoy one last night at this scenic terrace overlooking the TrangoGroup

Retrace steps to Paiju, a green campsite where porters sing and celebrate the nearing end of theexpedition.

Follow the Braldu River back to Jhola, where the warmer climate makes the walk easier.

The final trek leads to Askole, followed by a jeep ride back to Skardu. Overnight in hotel with hotshowers and real beds after weeks on the glacier.

Well-deserved rest day with time for shopping, sightseeing, or simply relaxing after the long expedition.

Take a flight back to Islamabad, or drive the Karakoram Highway if flights are canceled.

Free day in Islamabad for debriefing with the Alpine Club of Pakistan and farewell dinner

Transfer to airport for international departure, marking the end of the K2 Expedition.
