The Machulo La Trek is a short yet rewarding adventure in Baltistan, perfect for those seeking mountain panoramas with moderate trekking days. In just 12 days, trekkers enjoy scenic drives along the Indus Valley, explore Baltistani villages, and hike to Machulo La Pass, which is often called the “Golden Throne of Mountains.” From this single viewpoint, you can see five of the world’s 8,000m peaks, including K2 and Nanga Parbat. The trek also offers deep cultural immersion with the warm hospitality of Baltistan’s people.

Itinerary

Arrive in Islamabad, meet your guide, transfer to hotel. Trek briefing and equipment check.

Fly to Skardu with stunning aerial views of Nanga Parbat. In case of flight cancellation, drive via Karakoram Highway.

Visit Skardu city, explore local bazaars, Skardu Fort, and Kharpocho Fort. Final trek preparations

Scenic drive through valleys along the Indus River to reach Machulo village. Overnight in local guesthouse.

Start trek with a gradual ascent through fields, streams, and alpine forests. Overnight in Jobi Camp.

Continue trekking through meadows and yak pastures, camping below the pass.

Climb to Machulo La for one of the best panoramic views in the Karakoram. Witness sunrise over K2, Nanga Parbat, and surrounding peaks. Overnight at camp.

Optional day for further exploration, photography, and acclimatization in alpine meadows.

Descend back to Jobi Camp through scenic pastures.

Continue descent to Machulo village. Experience traditional Baltistani food and culture.

Return drive to Skardu. Free time for shopping and exploring.

Fly back to Islamabad or drive via Karakoram Highway. End of services.
