The Snow Lake Trek is often described as one of the most beautiful mountain journeys on earth. This 21-day trek takes adventurers deep into the heart of the Karakoram, through the remote Biafo and Hispar Glaciers, and onto the high-altitude plateau of Snow Lake. Known locally as Lukpe Lawo, Snow Lake is an enormous glacial basin surrounded by towering peaks and untouched wilderness. The trek combines rugged glacier crossings, spectacular views of the Hispar La Pass, and encounters with the traditional Balti culture. It is a challenging expedition, rewarding those who seek solitude, raw natural beauty, and a once-in-a-lifetime trekking experience.

Itinerary

Arrive in Islamabad, transfer to hotel, meet your guide and group, briefing and equipment check.

Fly to Skardu (weather permitting) with views of Nanga Parbat, or travel via Karakoram Highway. Overnight in Skardu.

A day for acclimatization, sightseeing, and final trek preparations. Explore Skardu Fort, bazaar, and lakes.

Travel by jeep to Askole, the last permanent settlement before the wilderness. Meet porters and finalize supplies.

Follow the Braldu River and then trek onto Biafo Glacier, camping at Jhola, Namla, and Baintha with stunning mountain views.

Move deeper onto Biafo Glacier, surrounded by ice towers, crevasses, and dramatic peaks. Remote wilderness trekking.

Arrive at Snow Lake (4,880 m), one of the world’s most spectacular mountain amphitheaters. Camp on the ice basin.

Challenging crossing of Hispar La, connecting the Biafo and Hispar Glaciers. Spectacular views across endless peaks.

Trek down Hispar Glacier, one of the longest glaciers in the Karakoram, camping at Khani Basa and other points.

Arrive in the lush green village of Hispar, a welcome contrast after days on the glacier. Overnight camping or local guesthouse.

Drive through Nagar Valley into Hunza. Explore Karimabad with views of Rakaposhi and Ultar Sar.

Return to Islamabad via Gilgit flight (weather dependent) or Karakoram Highway drive. Overnight in hotel.

Transfer to airport for international flight.
